Ad Astra Taproom

We are very fortunate to have our own Cider Barn/Taproom right in the middle of our fantastic orchard, selling cider, beer and a wide range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

We have an outside seating area for those glorious Somerset days, and we are dog friendly!

The cider barn can be rented out as a fantastic private and unique venue for functions such as Wedding Receptions, Birthdays and Anniversaries.

Throughout the year we run quiz nights, band nights, cider tastings and other events such has Halloween and Wassail. Visit our events page to see what's on!

History of the Taproom

The Ad Astra Cider Barn has a rich and important history. Cider from this
orchard was sent to Ernest Shackleton for his last Antarctic expedition. In the 1930’s, the site was owned by Schweppes as a cider mill and orchards. During the Second World War, it is believed that the cider ban was used for
the manufacture of wings for the famous Hurricane fighter aircraft.
